Internship

The intern provides administrative support to the Japan Society staff: President, Office Manager and Program Officer. Position requires a pleasant office demeanor, good written and spoken English language skills, good organization with an eye for detail, and a capacity to multi-task. The intern is a part of a small team, demonstrating initiative to solve challenges.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Excellent computer skills including MS Word and Excel
  2. Experience with customized membership databases and data entry

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Dreamweaver or similar HTML programs
  2. Strong writing and proofreading skills
  3. Knowledge of Japanese culture and/or language
  4. Ability to work some evenings and weekends
  5. Experience in graphic design and/or brochure production is a plus.

Compensation:

This is an unpaid, part-time position.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain database
  2. Assist staff with event calendar, fundraising and membership mailings
  3. Assist staff at Society events
  4. Additional general administrative tasks as needed
