SUMMARY:How Fujifilm Succeeded in Changing the Fate of instax® Instant Cameras
DESCRIPTION:Introduced in 1998\, the instax instant camera allowed users to take and produce photos on the spot. While digital cameras took precedent for most of the early 2000s\, instax cameras are currently selling more than digital cameras\, as instant cameras have boomed in popularity due to Gen Z and Millennials becoming enamored with vintage products. \nThe instax cameras were truly a revival product\, with sales going down at one point\, but it made a huge comeback through the use of outstanding marketing strategies. Here at Japan Society of Northern California\, we would like Fujifilm to talk about instax’s success stories of creating mega-hit consumer products in the USA. What is the secret of Fujifilm’s success? Join us to hear the fascinating stories! \nAdditionally\, we are excited to announce our instax Film Contest. We ask our community to submit photos of their own unique instax usage ideas. The winner will be decided by polls during the event! Recently\, he choreographed the shrine maiden’s ceremonial dance (巫女舞) performed by the main character in the award-winning 2016 animated film\, “Your Name” (君の名は). \n\nIn response to the pandemic\, Kazutaro created “ART Kabuki\,” which offers a modern Kabuki experience\, introducing modern cinematic technology\, music\, aesthetic\, and fashion. In 2016\, he choreographed the shrine maiden’s ceremonial dance (巫女舞) performed by the main character in the award-winning animated film\, Your Name (君の名は). SUMMARY:How to adapt to the new national security review law for foreign investment in US technology companies
DESCRIPTION:In 2018\, the US enacted new restrictions on foreign investment in American technology companies. The restrictions are implemented by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States\, or CFIUS. One of the biggest changes is the expansion of the notification and pre-approval requirements for non-controlling\, minority investments in certain high tech companies; a related change is the significant increase in resources given to CFIUS to identify concerning transactions for which the parties did not make filings. These changes are already having a big impact on foreign companies trying to invest in Silicon Valley start-ups.\n\nThe Japan Society of Northern California and JETRO are pleased to present a program to help Japanese companies who are scouting for partnerships and investment opportunities in American tech companies. The program will address how to pursue such opportunities while minimizing risks and costs from the new regulatory regime. \nWe are pleased to host Nick Klein and Stephen Heifetz\, who have experience navigating CFIUS and advising Japanese companies on tech acquisitions and investment. The conversation will be moderated by Japan Society Chair Larry Greenwood. \nDon’t miss this opportunity to get an insider’s look at the new rules for national security review of foreign investment and hear advice on strategies Japanese companies can use to continue to safely invest in American tech companies without fear of running afoul of the new regulations. \n*Please note that the Japan Society of Northern California and JETRO are not responsible for any disadvantages that may occur to participants regarding the content provided at this online seminar.**We will not be providing a recording of this event\, so please consider attending on the 7th.\n～オープン・イノベーションに従事する方必見！ （Chairman of the Board\, Japan Society of Northern California）が務めます。どうしたら新規制に抵触することなく、米国のハイテク企業に安全に投資を続けることができるのか、お悩みの方々は、 是非この機会をお見逃しなく。 \n*Japan Society of Northern California \n主催：Japan Society of Northern California共催：ジェトロサンフランシスコ参加費：無料講演言語：英語（日英同時通訳が付きます） \nDate and Time:\nThursday\, October 7th\, 2021 at 4:00 P.M. – 5:15 P.M. SUMMARY:Coffee Life in Japan
DESCRIPTION:In Japan\, coffee gained popularity in the 20th century along with the increased fascination towards the West at the time. Many kissaten\, or Japanese-style tea rooms that also serve coffee\, opened during this period. Kissaten owners emphasized detail and accuracy in their brewing methods while creating a unique atmosphere to enjoy the coffee in. \nThird-wave coffee culture focuses on delivering high-quality specialty coffee and is heavily influenced by innovative methods the kissaten owners used to improve the experience of drinking coffee. In the last few years\, there has been a similar pattern in the import of third-wave coffee culture and foreign specialty cafes like Blue Bottle Coffee to Japan. The phenomenon represents a mutual influence between the U.S. and Japan as it transitioned from the second to third-wave coffee culture. \nJoin us for this special program to take a look at these reinventions that stem from the delicacy and precision held in Japanese culture. \n  \nDate and Time:\nThursday\, October 28th\, 2021 at 3:00 P.M.
