The 54th San Francisco International Film Festival returns April 21-May 5, presenting the finest in independent, documentary and international cinema.
This year, the Japan Society is pleased to copresentHOSPITALITÉ, directed by Koji Fukada. In this black comedy the lives of a timid small-time printer and his young wife are turned inside out by the arrival of a stranger who moves in and takes over their world. Set in a village-like outpost in the heart of Tokyo, this is a wry commentary on Japanese xenophobia. Kiki Sugino heads a spritely ensemble cast.
Director Koji Fukada was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1980. HOSPITALITÉ was a winner of the Best Picture Award at the Japanese Eyes section of the 2010 Tokyo International Film Festival.
