*For Students at an Intermediate High Level

Do you like watching movies? Do you also find yourself analyzing movies and talking about the context with others? Then this discussion workshop on Zoom is for you! We are now accepting students for an exciting 7-week virtual workshop. During these 1.5 hour sessions, students will examine and discuss 2 Japanese films that will be shown over the course of the workshop.

These are the awesome movies:

  1. トラン・アン・ユン監督『ノルウェイの森 』: Norwegian Wood by Tran Anh Hung
  2. ドキュメンタリー映像『日本文学を世界へ ドナルド・キーンの生涯』:“Bringing Japanese Literature to the World” The life of Donald Keene

Students will be able to talk about each movie in length, while also learning more about the films’ cultural and historical backgrounds. The first session will outline the full 7 weeks of the workshop. Our amazing teacher Sakamoto-sensei will then create content for the students to review prior to each session, followed by a film discussion during the sessions.

This virtual workshop is the perfect opportunity to not only discover and discuss 2 awesome movies, but also practice your Japanese with your fellow movie-loving classmates!

*This workshop is meant for those at an Intermediate High level as defined on page 7 of the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.

*Workshops with low enrollment may be canceled.

Date: Tuesdays at 6:30 pm PST, starting August 16th. 7 sessions in total.

Fee: $230 (Membership is required for this booking. Join and support the Japan Society! Membership can also be applied to sign up for group lessons and workshop in the future!)
