Yoshito Hori | Founder and President, GLOBIS University Founder and Managing Partner, GLOBIS Capital Partners
Mr. Yoshito Hori established GLOBIS in 1992, a business school which was accredited by the Japanese Government in 2006. Now GLOBIS University has an annual intake of more than 1200 MBAs and is considered by many to be the No.1 Business School in Japan. He also founded GLOBIS Capital in 1996, which in 1999 formed a joint venture with Apax, later became GLOBIS Capital Partners (GCP). GCP is often viewed as the No.1 Venture Capital Firm in Japan based on terms of track record, size and reputation. In 2008, he launched the G1 Summit—a Japanese version of WEF’s annual Davos Forum. G1 Institute has become a leading community and think tank to improve the state of Japan.
He has dedicated support to the recovery from the Great Eastern Earthquake through the KIBOW Foundation. He has supported the revitalization of his hometown Mito through ownership of the Professional Basketball Team, Ibaraki Robots. In 2022, he started a Rock Festival, named “LuckyFes”. He authored several books, including Visionary Leaders Who Create and Innovate Societies, and My Personal Mission Statement. Mr. Hori received his BS in engineering from Kyoto University and his MBA from Harvard Business School. He is married and enjoys swimming and spending time with his family and five sons.

Tracy Gopal is an Executive Board Director of the Japan Society of Northern California. She is the Founder of Third Arrow Strategies LLC, a boutique advisory firm focused on improving corporate governance, stewardship, and workforce diversity in Japan. She is also the Founder of the Japan Board Diversity Network (JBDN). The JBDN is dedicated to the promotion of skills-based, well-trained, diversely comprised boards dedicated to value creation and investor engagement. The JBDN global network advances corporate governance and board diversity through training, inspiring, and placing its members in board positions.
