Join the Japan Society for a Netflix Watch Party! We will be watching the recently released Japanese animated film “A Whisker Away.”

Directed by Junichi Sato and Tomotaka Shibayama, this film follows a young girl and those around her as they struggle to grow up and find their identities. A heartfelt coming of age story that captures the difficulties of youth and the “masks” we wear when interacting with others, this family-friendly film is enjoyable for all ages.

In order to join you will need to download the ‘Netflix Party’ browser extension, which is available on Google Chrome. You can download the extension and learn more about Netflix Party here.

HOW TO USE NETFLIX PARTY:

Follow the instructions in the graphic or the same steps below it:

1. Download Google Chrome on your laptop or computer, if you do not already have it.

Netflix party only works on Chrome browsers.

2. Install the Netflix Party Browser Extension

You can download the extension by visiting www.netflixparty.com or directly from the Chrome web store here.

3. Check your email and click the Party URL provided in JSNC’s event reminder.

Due to software restrictions, the link cannot be provided until about 30 minutes prior to the event start time. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

4. Once the page has opened, click on the “NP” extension button at the top right of the Chrome window, near the search bar, to join the group chat.

IMPORTANT: If you do not click the button, you will not join the Netflix party and will just be watching the movie on your own, without chat or synchronous playback!

ADDITIONAL NOTE: In some cases, the “NP” button may be hidden from your browser toolbar. Click the puzzle piece icon to see all your extensions and then select Netflix Party.

5. Choose your chat name and icon by clicking the icon at the top right of the chat box, and enjoy the show!
