Join us for this special screening of “Paper Lanterns,” a documentary that shows the power of empathy and forgiveness to heal deep wounds. In this 2016 documentary directed by Barry Frechette and produced by Nobuko Saito Cleary, learn about atomic bomb survivor Shigeaki Mori and his 35 year-long journey to track down the families of the 12 American prisoners of war who were among the estimated 140,000 people who died in the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Come see how Mori’s dedication is an inspirational example of overcoming the divisions and prejudices of wartime. Following the film screening will be a discussion with Director Barry Frechette and Producer Nobuko Saito Cleary.
