Steve Pollock

President

Steve Pollock assumed the position of President of Japan Society of Northern California on August 23, 2022. Previously a JSNC Board member, Mr. Pollock has been actively involved with a number of the Society’s signature initiatives, including starting JSNC’s operations in Japan in 2016, leading the corporate membership committee, and serving on the steering committee for the annual Innovation Awards.

Mr. Pollock is the founder of Turnstone Ventures, a boutique consulting firm that provides strategic advice and market-entry consulting services to companies doing business between the U.S. and Japan. He began his career at Mitsubishi International Corporation, co-founded and served as president of WetFeet, a venture-backed software and services firm in the recruiting industry, and has led numerous successful new business initiatives for startups, nonprofits and large employers in the U.S. and Japan. Mr. Pollock holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in East Asian studies from Harvard College.

Miho Greenberg

Chief Operating Officer

Miho Greenberg joined the Japan Society of Northern California on November 20, 2017 as Chief Operating Officer. Born in Japan and raised in the international city of Kobe, Miho came to live and work in the US in 2008. She has extensive marketing and project management experience, especially projects that bring together Americans and Japanese. Miho has worked on global branding, including developing B2B/B2C, public relations, and social media strategies. For example, she has conducted ethnographic research in the automotive, pharmaceutical, IT, and food industries to understand US lifestyle trends. Her clients include: Subaru, Toshiba, Suntory FANCL as well as major advertisement agencies. Before moving to the Bay Area in 2011, Miho worked at the MIT Media Lab in charge of managing sponsor (mostly large Japanese companies) relationships. Miho is a graduate of Hitotsubashi University, has worked at two foreign Embassies in Tokyo and at the Dutch electronics firm Philips. Miho wants to use her enthusiasm to improve the touchpoint to Japan utilizing the Society’s programming; increasing the engagement with Japan.  Miho also contributes a column for online Asahi Shimbun, the second largest newspaper in Japan,  Globe Asahi +

Kendra De Nike

Kendra De Nike

Office Administrator

Kendra De Nike is a California native who has lived in the Bay Area since 2011. She graduated cum laude from San Francisco State University in 2016 with a BA in English Literature, and started working with the Japan Society as an intern for their annual Award of Honor Gala. Afterwards, she stayed on and became their new Office Administrator. Her primary responsibilities include: the everyday running of the office, interviewing prospective interns, preparing for Board meetings, and helping at important events. In her spare time, Kendra enjoys writing, playing video games, attending anime conventions, spending time with her extended family, and hanging out with her cat, Kieran.
