Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Gold Medalist Nobuyuki Tsujii will perform in his San Francisco Bay Area debut on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 3 pm at the newly renovated Herbst Theatre in San Francisco as part of the 110th Anniversary celebration.
Blind since birth, Tsujii has learned his repertoire largely by ear. Since winning the 2009 Van Cliburn Competition, he has achieved rock star status in Japan. With a degree of technical security almost all sighted pianist might envy, Tsujii’s high octane recitals and performances with world-renowned symphony orchestras has garnered numerous critical acclaims.
Tsujii’s program will include Frédéric Chopin’s Andante spianato et Grande Polonaise Brillante in E-flat major, Op. 22 and Piano Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor, and Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 6 in D-flat major and Piano Sonata in B minor, S.178.
