Founded in 1994, Hidden Villa is a nonprofit educational organization that utilizes its organic farm, 1600 acres of open wilderness, and loving community to build alliances between peoples of all backgrounds and the environment we share: the perfect setting for a cross-cultural undo-kai.

Undo-kai roughly translates to “sports day” in English. In Japan, undo-kai is typically held in the Fall, a welcomed day of relief from classes and homework for many elementary and middle school students. This undo-kai takes place in mid-May, marking the end of the American school year and celebrating the upcoming months of frivolity and sunshine.

Saturday, May 19 will be a day of traditional Japanese arts, taiko drumming, dance performances, crafts tables, calligraphy, origami, flower arranging, tea ceremonies, a kendama contest, food and farm animals. Parents can chill in the shade, children can run around screaming, and everyone can build connections, participate in Japanese culture, and come together as a community.
