Please join an event featuring well-known female leaders who have played a significant role in empowering women in Japan. Sakie Fukushima, a renowned Japanese business leader, was President & CEO of Korn Ferry Japan, only the second woman to serve on Korn Ferry’s US Board, was Vice-Chair of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives (Keizai Doyukai), and has served on the board of directors of 12 major Japanese companies. Suzanne Basalla, currently Chief of Staff, Toyota Research Institute, was former EVP and COO of the US-Japan Council and former Senior Advisor to Ambassador Roos in the US Embassy of Tokyo. The event will be moderated by Susie Roos, a partner and CAO of Geodesic Capital, who was an employment and labor attorney for 34 years.
Please come hear these three power women tell their stories of how they successfully navigated male-dominated environments and gender bias (before anyone discussed gender bias). They will share stories of how mentors of both genders combined with their hard work and persistence enabled them to work through challenges and rise to the top.
We will also hear about current developments in Japan, the current state of “womenomics” and challenges of changing public policy and the private sector behavior. As we understand the historical and current challenges facing women, but also see some shifts in cultural attitudes and perspectives, what are the next tangible steps for companies and the government to take so that women can contribute their talents to society?
