The Japan Society of Northern California wishes to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Irene Hirano at her passing. As founding President of the US Japan Council and in her many other public roles, Irene was one of our nation’s most prominent Japanese American leaders who worked tirelessly to build bridges between the US and Japan. She was a good friend and partner of the Japan Society of Northern California, which shared her passion for bringing Americans and Japanese even closer together. Her kindness and generosity, her ebullient energy and her passion will be sorely missed.
