Japan Society of Northern California + American Chamber of Commerce in Japan
Collaboration Project

Nuclear power accounted for nearly one-third of Japan’s electricity but virtually collapsed after the Fukushima accident in 2011. The Japanese Government plans to revive nuclear power to provide one-fifth of Japan’s electricity needs by 2030. What role can new technologies play in making nuclear power more efficient, cheaper and safer to fully realize its potential to contribute to the decarbonization of electricity grids around the world and to a stable supply of power in an increasingly uncertain geopolitical environment? Please come to Tokyo Innovation Base on Friday, June 21 at 3:00PM to hear from leaders of startups, businesses and institutions from Japan and the US about the development of innovative new technologies that can help harness nuclear power as a source of safe and sustainable energy. The speakers include past winners of the Japan-U.S. Innovation Awards, which is jointly presented by the Japan Society of Northern California and the Stanford University US–Asia Technology Management Center.
