Past Event Details: A New Era in the Space Ecosystem – Future Collaboration between the US and Japan for a Post-ISS World

*In-person, English Program

Since it was launched in the late 1990s, the International Space Station (ISS) has served as a symbol of scientific advancement and international cooperation. However, despite the ISS’s many triumphs, the technologies that it was designed with have inevitably grown limited and dated over the decades. In 2030, NASA plans to retire the ISS and launch a new space station that will be exclusively built and operated by private companies. Japanese experimental equipment and modules will be integrated into this new US commercial space station, resulting in the forging of unprecedented ties between the two nations in orbit.

On July 11th, Japanese and US space tech startups will gather to share valuable insights into the dynamic plan for a post-ISS world and highlight the challenges, expectations, and market effects of this global collaboration. Join us to learn how the partnership between Japan and the US will introduce new avenues for investment and innovation in space-related industries, including exciting opportunities for biotech research and clinical trials that can only be conducted in the unique environment of space.
