We are very excited to announce our next Leadership Circle/VIP dinner with John and Susie Roos on April 24th at Hana Izumi Restaurant in Millbrae. John and Susie really need no introduction – they are two of the monumental figures in the history of building strong US-Japan relations this century, and have been wonderful supporters of the Japan Society of Northern California. They have agreed to join us for a wonderful dinner Hana Izumi restaurant and to share their experiences in Japan and beyond. (I’m hoping they will tell us how much we should believe about the Keri Russell character and husband Hal featured as a power diplomatic couple in the The Diplomat TV show!)  

John, as most of you know, served as the US Ambassador to Japan from the United States from 2009-2013. Among many accomplishments, John is particularly well-known for his efforts to help Japan deal with and recover from the Great East Japan Earthquake that devastated the Tohoku region in 2011. He launched the highly regarded Tomodachi Initiative to help support the development of Japan’s next generation of leaders. Post-diplomatic career, John founded and leads Geodesic Capital, a venture capital fund with a focus on late stage US-based ventures. 

John will be accompanied by his wife, Susie Roos, an accomplished labor lawyer in her own right, and a passionate supporter of US-Japan relations and women’s empowerment. Susie, along with John, has remained active in the Tomodachi Initiative, is an active supporter of many Asia and Japan-focused organizations, and is the Chief Administrative Officer and a Partner at Geodesic Capital.
